The Hawker Hurricane is one of the most famous aircraft to take part in World War II. Designed in the mid-1930s by Sydney Camm it made use of existing technology - tubular metal alloy fuselage with a fabric covering and metal skinned wings - which made it easy to repair and resistant to battle damage. It was the main aircraft used by Fighter Command in the Battle of Britain. It was also used in North Africa and the Far East where it was used primarily as a ground attack aircraft.
